Scrappy Rocks!

That Disney contest was fun, right? We love having fun, so we’ll be holding more contests in the near future while gearing up for our first big hot rod giveaway. In the meantime, something that’s super fun and free is geocaching. You probably already know what geocaching is, but here’s a crash course from Geocaching.com:

“Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor adventure that is happening all the time, all around the world. To play, participants use the Geocaching app and/or a GPS device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called geocaches.”

In other words, you get an app on your phone that tells you where stuff is hidden and then you go find it. Once you find whatever it is, you normally put your info in a log that lets other people know that you found something there and then you hide something else in the same spot for someone else to find. It’s a pretty groovy idea and one we love.

Many people in our family have gotten involved in geocaching in a less hardcore way (ie: no logging involved) by painting rocks and hiding them for other people to find. Once people find the rocks, they’re supposed to post a pic of the rock and re-hide it somewhere new so someone else can find it. So.Much.Fun. Every time one of our rocks is found and we see the posted picture we smile. With this in mind, we’ve created #scrappyrocks which is both a FaceBook Group and a hashtag for people who don’t FaceBook (FYI: you’ll have to be logged in to FaceBook for the Group link to work).

Basically, we’re going around hiding rocks with our Scrappy logo on them for you to find. The instructions are to “Take a pic with your ride and re-hide.” So when you find one of our rocks, and we can’t wait for you to find one, you get to take a pic of the rock with whatever vehicle you’re tooling around in, post it to the FB group or to Instagram or wherever (don’t forget to hashtag scrappyrocks) and then everyone will get to see your awesome pic. Not only that but you get to re-hide the rock for the next person. It’s like paying forward fun and we can’t wait to see your pictures!
